PARAMETERS

The following figures are based on operating a 6 cubic metre truck delivering 2 loads per day and operating 5 days per week x 50 weeks per year:

Cost to supplier

  •  Daily output: 12M3 @ £80 per M³ = £960 per day

  •  If 0.25 cubic metre 'dead' concrete is already in the drum

  •  This equals £40 per day lost capacity

  •  The cost: £40 per day  x 5 days x 50 weeks = £10,000 loss per year per mixer

cost to truck owner

If the ‘dead concrete’ weighs over 0.6 tonne and the truck loses 1mpg off its fuel economy to carry the extra weight the extra fuel cost equates to £3.26 per day in extra fuel costs without added wear and tear based on 100 miles per day and 12mpg fuel economy at best at £1.03 per litre of diesel.

cost to joint parties

  • Concrete supplier @ £10,000 per year

  • Concrete haulier  @ £815 per year

  • Total cost for ‘dead concrete’ = £10,815 per truck per year

  • X 10 trucks = £108,150

  • X 100 trucks = £1,081.500
